This gentle kayaking excursion is a lovely way to explore Lake McClaren (20 minutes from Tauranga) with the added attraction of seeing magical glowworms. Alongside a sunset cheese and wine platter you will receive guidance on how to kayak effectively before launching on to the lake. You will move along the shoreline with commentary from your guide about the culture and ecology of the area before reaching mysterious Maungapapa Canyon. Here you will spend some time amongst and learn about the glow-worms, stopping to enjoy the thousands of glimmering lights they create. Kayaking at night in itself is a unique experience and whilst you are equipped with head-torches there will also be moments when you switch the lights off to enjoy the stars and beautiful tranquillity of this spot.
