Located in the historic precinct of Clyde, Olivers is a property with an interesting past. Originally a general store, offering services for the prospectors who flooded to the area in 1869, it has undergone many transformations but has now been carefully restored to provide accommodation for modern visitors to the region. There are eleven rooms set in two buildings: those in the stables have a rustic ambience, with original stone walls and timber beams, whilst the lodge rooms have a more contemporary décor, but still with hints of the bygone age. The buildings surround a sunny courtyard and, weather permitting, a hot breakfast is served here each day or, on cooler mornings, in the schist-walled dining room. This heritage site is also home to a fine dining restaurant, a café/bakery and a boutique craft brewery. Handily, it is across the road from a bike rental store for those who wish to head out on to the Otago Central Rail Trail.
