Spend a fantastic day exploring the Canterbury Plains and the village of Arthur’s Pass, the highest settlement in the South Island, tucked away in the Southern Alps. You will first journey by coach to Springfield where you join the TranzAlpine Train; with panoramic windows you will get fantastic views as you journey up in to the mountains. Disembarking in Arthur’s Pass you will take a short coach journey to view Otira Gorge before returning for lunch and a wander around the village. You will return to Christchurch by coach but en route stop for an exhilarating jet boat ride through the impressive Waimakariri River gorge, followed by a tasty afternoon tea and sheep-shearing demonstration at a nearby farm. Lunch is included.
