Stewart Island is one of the best places in the country to see Kiwi in the wild. On this tour you depart at dusk from Halfmoon Bay and take a scenic cruise by catamaran across Paterson Inlet, keeping an eye out for other wildlife along the way. Disembark at Little Glory Cove where your nature guide will lead you by torchlight through the forest to secluded Ocean Beach. This is a popular feeding spot for the Southern Brown Kiwi and it’s here that you will see them foraging for seeds and insects amongst the grasses. It’s about a 45-minute walk each way to the beach and the whole tour takes around four hours. Even if you don’t see a Kiwi this is a fantastic excursion for learning a little about the interesting ecology of Stewart Island
